Reason for expectations: After the sleeper hit, Sarkunam went into hibernation to produce the script of his Vaagai Sooda Vaa. In fact, Vaagai Sooda Vaa is supposed to be his directorial debut. But the movie couldn’t go on floors back then owing to budget constraints and since Sarkunam couldn’t find a producer for the project. Overtime, Kalavani happened and Sarkunam is catapulted into mainstream cinema
Vaagai Sooda Vaa is a period drama, romantic comedy and satire, set in the 1960s. Art Director Seenu has constructed a village replica near Arupukkotai for the movie and the movie was shot there in its entirety. You can expect the Sarkunam brand simplistic humor throughout the movie.
Vaagai Sooda Vaa has Vimal and debutant Iniya playing the lead roles. The movie also has veteran Bhagyaraj, Ponvannan and Thambi Ramaiah playing meaty roles. The movie’s music is done by M. Ghibran and the songs are already climbing the charts slowly. There are good things to be heard about the movie’s songs.
Level of expectations: 50%
Audiences: Vaagai Sooda Vaa is produced by S. Muruganandham and N. Puranna for Studio Village Theatres. Sarkunam has a fan following and if he manages to pull off a decent entertainer, along the lines of Kalavani, Vaagai Sooda Vaa will be an undoubted it.
